Star gazing
Yes, Jennis Bay is just as peaceful and serene at 3:00 a.m...Bravo and Kiwi sit outside on our small porch with me as I feel the warm breeze and gaze up at the beautiful night sky and staring at the stars. The comfortable sound of the roaring stream is heard in the background. We've had such beautiful days this week and the float houses are completely deep cleaned and ready for a work crew coming in. Every sheet, blanket and bedspread has been washed, floors scrubbed, and as I pace back and forth from cabin to cabin my eyes continually glance out to the end of the bay wishing for an early season boater to arrive! New bbq arriving for the party deck, and I'm prematurely wanting to get the free-standing fire-pit set in place...just to see everything in place for a much anticipated boating season!
DOCKSIDE PROVISIONS
Jennis Bay Marina has been utilizing the services of an awesome business called Dockside Provisions (docksideprovisions.com) for all of our shopping needs. Dockside offers specialized and individual shopping services at all major retails stores and focuses on cost saving measures, quality and convenience for the remote location consumers. We highly recommend checking out their website for information on assisting your boating season to be conveniently serviced by Dockside. In conjunction with Dockside Provisions, Jennis Bay will be offering the service as a supply retrieval location for all the Broughton boaters. Upon your arrival at Jennis Bay, your provisions will available. We encourage everyone to visit their website for additional information as you make plans for a pleasurable 2012 boating season! docksideprovisions.com
Bravo's Buddy Max from Comox
Even animals need long distance friends, and now Bravo has Max! They don't get to see each other often but I just know that Bravo is anxiously awaiting Max's return during the upcoming boating season. The picture of Max has a story to be shared...When Kent and I took a short break at the end of January, I knew I wanted to buy Kiwi a little bed since Bravo had his own. I found the bed at Liquidation Outlet for the bargain price of $7.00 and grabbed it immediately. When we returned to the vehicle (with Max along for the ride) I jokingly put it in the back to see what Max would do. He looked at this little bed in wonder and curiousity, and then looking at me as if to say "I can't even fit on that". Before we even arrived back at Len and Barb's house, Max was using it as a head rest...Then we took it inside the house and placed it on top of his bed. Soon he was ruffling it around, moving it around, dragging it around the kitchen...he just wasn't sure what to do with the little bed. Max seemed to be so proud of his new minature bed. The night before our departure I knew that the bed had to stay with Max, and so it did. And as you can see from the photos, it was the right choice. Kiwi will still get a bed of his own, but just not this one!
Back at Jennis Bay - February 6, 2012
Such a rushed trip back up the island with all our supplies, groceries, decor and fun items for the summer season, we were entirely exhausted by the time we made it back to Jennis Bay. We departed on the water taxi just shortly after 1:00 p.m., and the warmth of the sun was so welcoming since our previous departure in the freezing cold. As we got closer to Wells Passage, the water became smoother, and after a very fast and furious unloading and reloading at Sullivan Bay into our little boat, we anxiously motored up Drury to get back to JB, Bravo and Kiwi. Poor Bravo had developed a very large hot spot on his back while we were gone, and we were bringing back numerous treatments to remedy the situation. As soon as we docked, I was running up the ramp to our cabin to let him know we were here. We spent the evening devoting our attention to him, applied the medicine and he slept comfortably.
New Events for Summer Season 2012
~NEW EVENTS - 2012~
~Missing Jennis Bay~
We've only been away for a week, but I'm missing JB very much, missing Bravo and Kiwi, and our little cabin. Jennis Bay is now our home - and I'm getting homesick thinking about our home! The emotional draw to it's beauty that I felt as a teenager remains with me today. The flight out on the Grummand Goose was such an awesome sightseeing tour, and did I take lots of pictures...? No...forgot to grab the camera. Jennis Bay, Sullivan Bay, Sterling Point, Kingcome Inlet, Gilford Bay to Port McNeill! Gorgeous snow capped mountains, light fog and quite a bit of rain, yet the views were phenomenal. Kingcome seems to be the land of waterfalls - very magestic. I wonder if Pacific Coastal could always pick me up first so I would always have the sightseeing tour?
~Freezing Greetings from Jennis Bay Marina~
2012 arrived quickly and quietly! New brochures and business cards have been designed and printed just in time for Jennis Bay to have it's presence at the Seattle Boat Show. Many thanks again to Barb and Len of M/V Second Pleasure, along with their daughter Kris and husband Robert of the soon to be M/V Lagu! The new website continues to get a lot of hits and emails, which makes us quite thrilled. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to visit the site!
First week of January is coming to an end
Can't believe the first week of January, 2012 is coming to an end! I'm actually glad to see it pass, as the constant high winds and down-pouring of rain haven't been keeping me asleep like it used to. The temperature has been very mild though, at least it's not freezing. And some nights, the cabin is so warm that even Bravo will move off his cedar bed, away from the warmth of the wood stove and find a cool spot on the floor. Kiwi hangs out by the stove no matter what the temperature is. When I pick him up he feels like a warm half-baked bread loaf.
Thank you everyone for the replies.
Having the new website launched just 72 hours ago, we are estatic with the comments being received! Thank you everyone for the replies. Some of our brainstorming ideas for the upcoming boating season are Bison Burger Night, Mexi-Night and Fondue Friday. The new covered deck will have bbq's in place for outdoor grilling and a free-standing fire pit, thanks to our good friends from the M/V Second Pleasure. We've got some great ideas for the decor and flower boxes, but it's going to a surprise! We've scouted out a couple of quaint camping sites in the bay for the kayaker enthusiasts as well. Add Jennis Bay Marina to your summer itinerary - we can hardly wait!
Welcome to Jennis Bay Marina - 2012!
Having only been here as new management of Jennis Bay Marina since the end of August, 2011, it has been an exciting and welcoming adventure for us. Arriving just at the end of boating season, Kent and I were enthusiastic to take over this role. Such wonderful people that we had the pleasure of meeting, and so much encouragement from everyone that visited, and so many ideas shared for the future of Jennis Bay Marina.
